Ian Gee

Ian has worked in Organization Development (OD) for the past 30 years. He started his career working for UK public services before moving to the Office for Public Management. Here the focus of his work, in the UK and overseas, was on OD to support public sector and not-for-profit organizations in achieving and maximizing the social results of their work.

In 1996, Ian joined Shell International’s global OD team as a Senior OD Practitioner and worked on a range of global OD initiatives across the company. In May 2006 Ian moved to Nokia Corp and in 2007 became Director of OD and led a team of consultants delivering services across Nokia businesses around the world. Ian’s work for Nokia included designing and leading the renewal of the Nokia Way, developing and implementing Nokia’s approach to Enterprise 2.0. Web 2.0 and the Net Gen. In 2012 Ian decided to set up Edgelands Consultancy. Ian is also Co-founder of Albany OD.

Ian´s most recent research is into the contribution OD can make to the success of entrepreneurs and startups. Ian is regularly asked to speak at conferences on issues to do with change and OD. He is known for the innovation, creativity and humour he brings to his work supported by a deep commitment to implementation, with the focus on the achievement of outcomes.

Matthew Hanwell

Matthew Hanwell has over 20 years of experience in the area of people-centric information technology in high-tech industries, where he has been responsible for developing and driving HR systems and technology, web based services, analytics, new ways of working focusing on community, collaboration and social media.

Matthew worked at Nokia from 1997 – 2012, where he held various positions within HR and IT with global responsibility including HR Director Community and Social Media. His time at Nokia was spent developing and driving forward HR and people centric technology in support of business needs; from implementing a global ERP (SAP), through developing a portfolio of web-based solutions and services, Corporate intranet development and a portfolio of social media and collaboration capabilities. Prior to Nokia, Matthew spent 11 years at Digital Equipment Corporation, in various Project Management, and HRIT roles, finally having the role of European HRIS manager.

Matthew has been a speaker and panellist at many international events and conferences, and has presented on HR technology, HR analytics and the use of collaboration and social media capabilities. Matthew lives in Finland, is married and has five children.
